The spirit and culture of "Edo”, transcending time, shape the identity of Tokyo as an international city and continue to serve as its driving force toward the future, symbolically expressed by placing "Edo" and "Tokyo" side by side. The use of the alphabet "Edo” emphasizes that Edo is not just a part of history but continues to hold significance as a city open to the world.

The Tokyo logo in the "Edo Purple" represents the enduring legacy of Edo’s spirit and landscape, continuing to flow through the heart of modern Tokyo.

The tagline, "The Spirit of Tokyo, Edo" communicates that the elegance, creativity, and the spirit of harmony and innovation nurtured in Edo remains the foundation of Tokyo’s ongoing evolution.

Statement


It was displayed at the “One Year Prior to the Reopening of the Edo-Tokyo Museum” event held from March 7 (Fri.) to 14 (Fri.), 2025, in the observation room of the north wing, 45th floor of the first main government building of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
