The 42nd Meeting of the Tokyo Council for the Arts
On May 25, Governor Koike attended the “42nd meeting of the Tokyo Council for the Arts.”
The governor said, “I believe that arts and culture are social infrastructure essential for a mature city. This has now become a huge strength of Tokyo. Tokyo has a profound charm where tradition and innovation coexist.”
She then noted, “At the end of March, the Edo-Tokyo Museum reopened after renovations and has been extremely popular. In June, the Edo Tokyo Campaign will be launched to convey the appeal of both the tangible and intangible aspects of Edo culture. And, from October through December, we will organize ARTE TOKYO, an international arts and culture festival that will lend color to Tokyo in the autumn and winter.
“Today, I would like to hear your candid opinions on the various arts and culture initiatives Tokyo is pushing forward, including major initiatives scheduled for this year,” the governor said.
