Tokyo Metropolitan Government Announces “Shinjuku Neon Walk” and “Happy New Year Tokyo 2026” Events Featuring World-Renowned Artists Under the Tokyo Nighttime Project - “Happy New Year Tokyo 2026” to Be Streamed Live on YouTube -

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced today the launch of the "Tokyo Nighttime Project," an initiative aimed at vitalizing Tokyo's nightlife in collaboration with organizations and businesses in the Nishi-Shinjuku area. This winter, visitors are invited to celebrate a special holiday season in Tokyo—where traditions blend with cutting-edge innovation.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is promoting initiatives to attract domestic and international travelers while offering new tourism experiences in Tokyo by revitalizing the city’s nighttime tourism.
This year’s project will showcase cutting-edge art illuminations and glamorous countdown events that symbolize Tokyo, a city where tradition meets innovation. These unique experiences aim to attract visitors and create a vibrant atmosphere.
The countdown event will feature projection mapping by internationally acclaimed artist Mika Ninagawa with EiM, as well as various live performances. Starting today, November 12, we are opening registration for participants. We look forward to welcoming many of you to join this exciting initiative. This event will be streamed live on YouTube, so even if you are unable to attend in person, you can still be part of the spectacular countdown online!
