“TOKYO Night & Light” Event Attracts Approx. 330,000 Visitors in Total; PAC-MAN Appears in the Projection Mapping on the TMG Building!


 

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government hosts year-round projection mapping displays on the façade of its Main Building No. 1, a prominent Tokyo landmark, transforming it into a vibrant canvas for dynamic artistic works that blend light and sound. This initiative aims to boost nighttime tourism and create unique attractions in Tokyo.

TMG will launch a new installation featuring “PAC-MAN,” the globally renowned character, in celebration of its upcoming 45th anniversary.
In addition, TMG will reveal future works, including the highly anticipated second installment of the popular Godzilla projections, following the success of its first edition. Stay tuned for more exciting installations!

Outline & Highlights of the Work

A game board appears on the TMG building walls and PAC-MAN navigates in all directions, chomping his way through everything in his path. The music, produced by trackmaker Haraguchi Sasuke, whose style complements the futuristic sound of the iconic PAC-MAN game, is a key feature of this unique experience. This special collaboration between PAC-MAN and Tokyo, exclusively displayed at the TMG building, offers a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. Enjoy this fusion of classic gaming nostalgia and modern cityscape!

About “PAC-MAN”

PAC-MAN is a game character based on an arcade game console released by Bandai Namco Entertainment (then Namco) in 1980. It has gained overwhelming popularity in the United States and around the world, appealing to all regardless of age or gender, and was recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the "most successful arcade game machine" in 2005, and it continues to evolve.

Following the success of the ongoing popular “Godzilla Attacks Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building,” this new installation celebrates the 70th anniversary of the iconic Godzilla.

Early December: “Idol”/YOASOBI

A work using YOASOBI’s “Idol” that swept the music charts all over the world

Late December: “Wagakki (Japanese instruments)”

Produced by Tanaka Tomoyuki, who is active in various fields, this work will immerse the audience in traditional Japanese culture through music played on Japanese instruments, etc.
