A collaboration of traditional crafts and contemporary art in the historic Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens
Experience traditional Edo-Tokyo techniques at contemporary art exhibitions and workshops

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government （TMG） is pleased to present the Edo Tokyo Rethink Exhibition, which shows new perspectives on traditional crafts through a lens of contemporary art. The event, directed by artist Noritaka Tatehana, will be held at the Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens, a registered Important Cultural Property.
The Edo Tokyo Kirari Project has shared the treasures of Tokyo by introducing brands that best represent “Old meets New;” these brands exemplify the traditional craftsmanship and beautiful designs of Edo-Tokyo, combined with new and inspired approaches for fulfilling the needs of contemporary lifestyles.
The exhibition venue, the Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens, is home to a Western-style residence and billiard room, designed by British architect Josiah Conder, and part of the Japanese-style house still remains. It has been designated as an important cultural property. Conder is known for his work designing the Rokumeikan, one of the most emblematic examples of western architecture from the Meiji period.
The exhibition will feature new pieces by Mr. Tatehana, combining the techniques of the Project's model businesses with contemporary art. During the exhibition, workshops will also be held where visitors can experience the traditions of Edo-Tokyo.

Entrance fee to enter the Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens:

• Adults : 400 Yen 
• Over 65 : 200 Yen

Free for elementary school students or younger （please ensure an accompanying adult is present）.
Junior high school students living in, or attending school in, the Tokyo Metropolis can also enter free of charge.
