2026 Tokyo Networking Night with the Islamic Missions

On Tuesday, March 3, Governor Koike hosted the 2026 Tokyo Networking Night with the Islamic Missions.

In her welcome remarks, the governor said: “Today, March 3rd, is also known in Japan as momo no sekku, or the peach blossom festival, a traditional event that marks the changing of the seasons. And, gradually, we are seeing more and more signs of spring in Tokyo as well.

Long ago in Edo, the former name of our city, from the daily lives of the common people, a unique culture blossomed that included kabuki theater, rakugo storytelling, and ukiyo-e art. Enhancing its appeal over time, this culture has been passed down through the generations to modern-day Tokyo. A constant stream of cutting-edge art that utilizes the latest digital technology is also being created here in Tokyo. From the traditional to the innovative, Tokyo is a city where diverse forms of art and culture intersect to captivate the world.

This month, we are excited to celebrate the reopening of the Edo-Tokyo Museum following a nearly four-year renovation project. The museum will offer experiences featuring the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo not available anywhere else. It is my hope that as many people as possible will be able to visit the newly enhanced museum.”
