Tokyo Disaster Response Headquarters Meeting (1st Session) Held
On Oct. 8, 2025, Governor Koike attended the Tokyo Disaster Response Headquarters Meeting (1st session), held in conjunction with establishing disaster response readiness for Typhoon No. 22.
The governor stated, “As head of the headquarters, I issue three directives for our response to be made in the days ahead. First, always implement damage prevention measures as early as possible. In areas where damage is expected, prioritize human life by taking such actions as evacuating residents during daylight hours today.
“Second, prepare thoroughly by reconfirming and checking readiness measures in anticipation of damage. During this process, ensure close information sharing with rescue and relief agencies to enable immediate response if casualties occur.
“And third, continue gathering information from the Japan Meteorological Agency and relevant organizations, and disseminate information to residents in a timely and appropriate manner. Above all else, minimizing damage is crucial. Collaborate with island municipalities and local agencies to repeatedly urge residents to evacuate safely and early.
Island municipalities are advised to prioritize human life above all else and do their utmost to gather accurate information and communicate with residents. Residents, please pay close attention to weather information and updates from island municipalities and the metropolitan government, and take early action to protect your own lives and those of your loved ones."
