SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 G-NETS Leaders Summit

On April 27, Governor Koike spoke during a session at the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 G-NETS Leaders Summit, held at the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba.

The governor said, “Enhancing urban resilience requires a significant investment of time and money for infrastructure development and other efforts. As such, it is essential to steadily build up measures with a medium- to long-term perspective. In 2022, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched the TOKYO Resilience Project. This initiative sets forth a vision for a more resilient Tokyo in the 2040s that anticipates five risks, including not just floods and storms, but also earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

“Even amid global instability, we cities have a duty to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of the residents before us, which are being threatened by natural disasters. Tokyo is thus focusing on the enhancement of urban resilience and transforming G-NETS into a platform for multicity lateral cooperation. I hope that, through G-NETS, we may continue sharing good practices and advancing technical collaboration on the ground, among other efforts, as we take steps together to realize resilient, sustainable cities.”
