Encouraging Companies to Harness the Power of Sports
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is accepting applications for the FY2026 TMG Sports Promotion Companies program from September 1 to October 30. The program recognizes companies and organizations that promote sports and physical activity among employees or contribute to society through sports-related initiatives.
Organizations that actively encourage employee participation in sports are certified as TMG Sports Promotion Companies. Among them, those demonstrating innovative initiatives or achieving a broad social impact are selected as TMG Sports Promotion Model Companies. Since its launch in FY2015, the program has certified approximately 650 organizations.
Eligible applicants include companies, general and public interest incorporated associations, general and public interest incorporated foundations, and non-profit organizations with headquarters or offices in Tokyo. Applications are accepted in two categories. The Exercise Category recognizes efforts to promote physical activity among employees, such as conducting Radio Taiso (radio calisthenics) before work or organizing walking events. The Support Category covers initiatives that contribute to the community through sports, such as employing athletes or providing sports classes for local children.
Certified organizations receive a certificate and certification sticker, and their activities are showcased on the TMG website. They also gain access to the Enjoy Sports Catalog Program, which offers a range of activities and workshops for employees, including posture assessments and fall-prevention exercise programs.
TMG will announce certified organizations in December 2026, with model companies selected and honored in February-March 2027. In FY2025, 10 organizations were recognized as model companies. Through this program, TMG aims to further promote corporate participation in sports while expanding sports-based social contribution initiatives across Tokyo.
