Opening Ceremony of the All Japan Used Book Expo 2026
On April 16, Governor Koike attended the opening ceremony of the All Japan Used Book Expo 2026 held at the Tokyo Kosho Kaikan (the Tokyo used book hall) in Chiyoda Ward.
The governor said, “Congratulations on holding the All Japan Used Book Expo 2026 today. Kanda Jimbocho, a traditional bookstore district dating back to the Meiji era, continues to captivate many people by giving them opportunities to encounter books. This year, for the first time, secondhand bookstores from all over the country have gathered in this cool neighborhood, which we can proudly present to the world. I hope you will take your time to fully enjoy the charm of books and this district, so much so that you will become unaware of the passage of time. I also sincerely hope that through this expo, many people will share knowledge and inspiration through books, and that the appeal of books will be widely disseminated. Let us continue to work together to preserve and revitalize this bookstore district.”
