Governor Attends ‘Edo Tokyo Spring 2026’ Opening Ceremony

Governor Koike attended the opening ceremony for the “Edo Tokyo Spring 2026,” held in MARUCUBE of Marunouchi Bldg. in Chiyoda Ward, on June 12.

Governor Koike stated, “For the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo to be registered as a World Heritage site, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will deliver the appeal of the tangible and intangible culture of Edo that still lives in various parts of the city, by working together with various supporters in each season. 

“Today marks the first phase of the yearly event: the Spring Campaign. Coinciding with the Sanno Festival, various events will be held in Chiyoda, Sumida and other wards. Furthermore, for the next three days, the Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum and other museums in the surrounding area will host exhibitions of Edo-era artworks, dance performances by local, traditional performing art groups from various areas of Tokyo, and lectures on Edo, the former Tokyo.”

She then said, “I hope you will visit these facilities, experience various events held under the theme of Edo and its festivals and fully enjoy their unique charms. Let’s work together to enliven the Edo culture.”
