Tokyo to Host 6 International Conferences from 2027 to 2029

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau announced that, thanks to collaboration with domestic bidding organizations, six international conferences will be held in Tokyo from 2027 to 2029.

The TMG and the Bureau are promoting the hosting of MICE events, such as international conferences, which serve as opportunities to showcase Tokyo’s appeal both at home and abroad and are expected to generate significant economic ramifications.

The six international conferences span the fields of medicine, technology, and engineering, and will be held sequentially from 2027 through 2029.

They are as follows:

  • AONS & ISNCC 2027, to be organized by the Asian Oncology Nursing Society and the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care.
  • IGCS 2027, to be organized by the International Gynecologic Cancer Society.
  • SIGGRAPH Asia 2027, to be organized by the ACM SIGGRAPH.
  • IEEE ITSC 2028, to be organized by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society.
  • ICSE 2029, to be organized by the International Conference on Software Engineering.
  • APFSSH Congress 2029, to be organized by the Asian-Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand.

In hosting international conferences in Tokyo, the TMG and the Bureau also provide support, including financial assistance for venue rental and other event expenses, as well as offering sightseeing tours in Tokyo and Japanese cultural experience programs for participants.

MICE is a general term for Meetings (corporate meetings, etc.), Incentive Travel (corporate incentive and training trips), Conventions (international conferences organized by international organizations, etc.), and Exhibitions/Events (trade shows and other events).
