Meeting with Mayor Yamazaki of Mizuho Town in Tama Region
On August 5, Governor Koike met with the newly elected Mayor Yamazaki Sakae of Mizuho Town in the capital’s western Tama region.
Mayor Yamazaki said, “I took office as the new mayor of Mizuho Town on May 16. I would like to express my gratitude to Governor Koike for helping us in various ways, including her speech in Mizuho Town and the (Tama Intercity) Monorail Line extension project. We look forward to your continued support.”
The governor said, "Mizuho Town has consistently played a central role in the (Tama Intercity) Monorail extension campaign. They send us cyclamen flowers every year, and we have worked closely with the former mayor and everyone involved. Regarding the future direction of Tama, we have drawn up a strategy called the ‘Tama-tebako (treasure box) of greenery.’ We aim to advance this in collaboration for development that leverages each region's features and uniqueness. Mizuho Town is a region blessed with clean air, greenery, and flowers. I hope you will continue to coordinate closely with the town assembly, listening to the voices of the residents. I look forward to your continued efforts."
