Governor Meets Reelected Mayor of Toshima Village
Governor Koike met on December 15, 2025, with Murayama Masato, who had been reelected as Mayor of Toshima Village—located on one of Tokyo’s 11 inhabited islands.
“Thank you in advance for your continued support over another four years,” Mayor Murayama told the Tokyo governor. “Our municipality is the fourth smallest in Japan in terms of both land area and population, but we are truly grateful that you recognize our efforts and offer your support. We would like to express our sincere gratitude once again.”
Congratulating Mr. Murayama on his reelection, Governor Koike described Toshima as “a truly charming island.” “I believe there will continue to be diverse needs and opportunities for further development in your island’s production of camellia oil,” she said.
“Young people may draw out your island’s appeal. They may uncover new attractions to promote the island, allowing us to work together with you to call on people to visit or relocate to the island,” the governor said. “Let’s move forward in collaboration between your island and the metropolitan government.”
