Meeting with Kobayashi Yoko, Mayor of Kodaira City
Governor Koike held a meeting on April 17 with Kobayashi Yoko, who has been re-elected as Mayor of Kodaira City located in the capital’s western Tama region.
Mayor Kobayashi told the Tokyo governor that during her re-election campaign she heard comments from many citizens that they benefit much from free school lunches subsidized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. “I’d like to express my appreciation anew.”
She also pledged to protect the Tamagawa Josui, a four-century-old freshwater canal that runs through Tokyo’s nine cities and four special wards including Kodaira, as well as move forward her city’s planned urban road network. “For my part, with the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, I will send out this message.”
Governor Koike called on the city mayor to draw on her experience from her last four-year term to go ahead with “building a better community where child-rearing is easy and working women and men can live with ease and peace of mind.”
“Madam Mayor, we look forward to your leadership in fostering mutual cooperation to better protect our era and advance our lives,” she said. “We sincerely hope you will continue to work hard while taking good care of your health.”
