Mascot statues unveiled at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building: 100 days to go to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Wednesday, April 14 marked 100 days to go to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Governor Koike attended the unveiling of the mascot statues at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. The unveiling of the Olympic Symbol at the summit of Mount Takao was shown via an online live feed.
Governor Koike said, "Tokyo is currently implementing priority measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we will contain the virus during this period. I sincerely look forward to holding the Games in 100 days’ time together with all of you, and hope that all the athletes from Japan and abroad who have been training for this day will be able to put on a wonderful performance … I want the Games to be one that conveys to the world its vision of Unity in Diversity, and is a symbol of sustainable recovery.”
The statues of the Games mascots at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building will not be on display for the time being, as the exhibition area is currently closed.
