Joint Opening Ceremony for the Tokyo Sports Festival and the Tokyo Sports Festival for the Disabled
On May 10, Governor Koike attended the “Joint Opening Ceremony for the 79th Tokyo Sports Festival and the 27th Tokyo Sports Festival for the Disabled,” held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium Main Arena in Shibuya Ward.
The governor said, “I am very pleased that the joint opening ceremony for the 79th Tokyo Sports Festival and the 27th Tokyo Sports Festival for the Disabled is being held today. This marks the 13th joint opening ceremony, serving as an excellent opportunity for athletes to deepen their mutual understanding of each other’s sports and to expand the circle of exchange, regardless of whether one has a disability or not.
“All the athletes present contribute greatly to the development of the sports you are engaged in, respectively, and daily in Tokyo. I hope you will fully demonstrate what you have achieved through your training. I also hope that you will disseminate in your communities what you will experience, as well as the wonders of sports, thereby leading to the well-being of every citizen of Tokyo. I would like to conclude my address by expressing my respect to everyone who has worked so hard to organize the events,” the governor said.
