Governor Meets with Ms. Kotani Mikako, President of the Tokyo Sports Association
On April 15, Governor Koike met with Ms. Kotani Mikako, President of the Tokyo Sports Association, a public interest incorporated foundation.
During the meeting, the governor said, “Congratulations on taking office as president of the association. I vividly remember Ms. Kotani’s remarkable performances and achievements at the Olympic Games. During the 2020 Games, we overcame various challenges to create an event that would be remembered in both history and records. Last year, Tokyo served as the stage for the World Athletics Championships and the Deaflympics, generating tremendous excitement through sports.
“Going forward, I hope we can work together to develop an environment where Tokyo citizens can stay healthy, enjoy sports, and continue to do so for years to come. Furthermore, hosting numerous sporting events in Tokyo will help our city make its appeal to the world and the rest of Japan. To that end, too, I sincerely hope that you will play an active role as president of the association. Let’s move forward together,” the governor said.
