The Tokyo Financial Award 2026 is now accepting applications for the Sustainability Category, seeking initiatives that contribute to the realization of a sustainable society!

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, with the aim of making Tokyo an “Innovation and Financial Hub in Asia for Realizing a Sustainable Society,” is making effective use of “Special Zones for Financial and Asset Management Businesses” established in June 2024 to promote initiatives that will position Tokyo as the leading city for sustainable and resilience finance, and as the city where global startups are born.
The Tokyo Financial Award recognizes initiatives that create innovation in the financial sector and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the power of finance.
Following the recent call for applications for the Financial Innovation Category, applications are now open for the Sustainability Category.
We welcome submissions from businesses undertaking outstanding initiatives in sustainable finance, including projects, investment activities, and human resource development that contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. We encourage eligible organizations to apply.

1. Outline

We are accepting initiatives that can contribute to the realization of a sustainable society from three subcategories: investment, business, and sustainable finance human resources development.
Applications will be evaluated based on their social impact, originality, potential for broader adoption and other relevant factors.
Through the first screening (written proposal) and the final round (presentation), approximately four applicants will be awarded (approximately three in total from the investment and business subcategories, and one from the sustainable finance human resources development subcategory). 
Among the award winners, one business that has particularly excelled in green finance initiatives will be awarded the "Governor's Special Prize for Green Finance."
Award-winning initiatives will be featured on the Tokyo Financial Award website and at events hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Other information about the Screening Committee will be updated on the Tokyo Financial Award website from time to time.
