SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 Draws a Record 61,000 Participants
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has recently released an official report summarizing the outcomes of SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, the global innovation conference. The report highlights the event’s achievements, noting that it set new records with approximately 61,000 participants from 103 countries and regions and generated more than 25,000 business meetings, thereby strengthening its position as a hub for global innovation.
SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, an event where startups, major corporations, investors and city leaders gathered from around the world to discuss and act toward realizing a sustainable future, was held from April 27 to 29 at Tokyo Big Sight and other venues across Tokyo.
Now in its fourth year, this year’s conference demonstrated its steady growth. SusHi Tech Tokyo, Asia’s largest global innovation conference, saw the number of exhibiting startups grow 2.4-fold, the number of business meetings increase 18-fold, and overall participation expand approximately 5.4-fold compared with its inaugural edition in 2023.
The program featured 678 speakers, including executives from leading global companies, promising startup founders, international investors, government ministers from around the world, and mayors of overseas cities. Prime Minister Takaichi was among the speakers. A total of 158 sessions were held during the conference.
Exhibits and demonstrations focused on four key themes: AI, Robotics, Resilience, and Entertainment. A record 798 startups from around the world showcased their innovative technologies. In addition, Qarbotech, an agritech company from Malaysia, won the SusHi Tech Challenge 2026, a startup competition that attracted 820 applications from 60 countries and regions.
