Governor Meets High School Karate Team
Governor Koike received a courtesy call on December 8 from the karate team of Tokyo’s Yakumo Academy Senior High School, who won two women’s titles at the 23rd Asian Cadet Junior & U21 Championship held in Guangzhou, China, in September.
“Congratulations to all of you,” the governor told the visitors seated in chairs. “You’ve been sitting in an upright posture for some time, and it’s truly a pleasure to watch.”
“Competing in international tournaments must be tense, but I believe the sense of accomplishment after winning is immense,” she added. “I hope you will always cherish that feeling as a positive memory throughout your long lives ahead, and that it will serve as a source of strength to keep pushing forward.”
“The way of karate is both a sport representing Japan and a spirit. I hope you will continue to train diligently and give it your all.”
