TEENS SQUARE TOKYO PROJECT 2026: Tokyo Forum of Young Minds

To realize a “Children First” society, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is reevaluating all metropolitan policies from a young person’s perspective and comprehensively implementing policies for children. 

The Tokyo Metropolitan Basic Ordinance on Children stipulates that the whole society must create an environment in which all children can grow up freely and healthily, with hope for both the present and the future.

As part of our efforts to promote this philosophy, Tokyo will host the youth forum TEENS SQUARE TOKYO PROJECT 2026. Through exchanges with their peers from cities around the world, Tokyo’s teens will develop and share their own ideas for a “child-friendly city.”

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Japanese and English.

Presentations by children from participating cities on the theme: “My Vision for a Child-Friendly City.”
*Presentations and Q&A sessions based on two subthemes: “Opportunities to voice worries and concerns” and “Places where children feel a sense of belonging.”

About TEENS SQUARE TOKYO PROJECT 2026

This program enables young people to develop and share their own ideas for a “child-friendly city” through workshops on the Tokyo Metropolitan Basic Ordinance on Children and exchanges with peers from cities (local governments) both in Japan and abroad.
