Five Years Since the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games: IPC President Andrew PARSONS Visits Legacy Sites
Five years have passed since the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and during this time, efforts to realize an "inclusive society" where everyone can live comfortably regardless of disability have been expanding throughout Tokyo. The legacies of the Tokyo 2020 Games—such as the increased public awareness of Para Sports and the adoption of universal design—are steadily taking root in various aspects of city life.
As part of the 5th anniversary project for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew PARSONS will visit Japan to tour the legacy sites that have progressed over the five years since the Tokyo 2020 Games, accompanied by TMG Para sport and Barrier-free Ambassadors. He will visit venues such as the Ariake Arena, a special needs education school, and transportation facilities to observe the progress of barrier-free initiatives and efforts toward a more inclusive society inspired by the Tokyo 2020 Games, while interacting with children and related stakeholders.
In addition to meeting with KOIKE Yuriko, Governor of Tokyo, IPC President Andrew PARSONS will appear at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics 5th Anniversary Special Stage. Alongside IPC Special Ambassadors INAGAKI Goro, KUSANAGI Tsuyoshi, and KATORI Shingo, as well as Paralympians and TMG Para sport and Barrier-free Ambassador, he will discuss "The Memories of the Tokyo 2020 Games and the Future of its Legacy."
Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to steadily advance initiatives aimed at realizing an inclusive society where everyone can shine, while further deepening our collaboration with the IPC.
