Annual Event on Consumer Life to Kick Off on Oct. 1

“Kurashi Festa Tokyo 2026,” an annual event where participants can learn about consumer life in a fun way, will start on October 1 under the theme “What We Can Do Now for the Future.”

Kurashi Festa Tokyo is the nickname for the Tokyo Consumer Month Initiative, organized jointly by consumer organizations and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. This initiative aims to provide useful information for daily life, featuring programs that everyone from children to adults can enjoy. Admission is free.

The event will kick off with a lecture on ethical consumption as the main symposium. Through familiar topics such as reducing plastic use, sustainable fashion, and food waste, the session offers an easy-to-understand introduction to ethical consumption. It will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on October 1 at the Tokyo Women’s Plaza Hall. Advance registration is required.

Also to be held is a participatory event, “See, Hear, and Let’s Talk! Exchange Festival 2026.” Booths will be set up featuring such themes as “Preventing Consumer Harm,” “Daily Life,” “Environment and Ethical Consumption,” “Food,” “Children,” and “Safety Measures.”

In addition, a variety of activities will be held on the seminar stage, including lectures on the SDGs and consumer problems, while rakugo (comic storytelling) will also be performed. There will also be hands-on experience corners set up, and a quiz rally will be held.

These events will take place at the Shinjuku Station West Exit Event Space from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 23 and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 24.
