Toward a Smarter Tokyo: Governor Koike Teams Up with Three Bay Area Mayors to Advance Autonomous Driving
During the April 17 discussion on autonomous driving with the three Bay Area mayors, Governor Koike stressed the importance of continuing to work together to ensure transportation for all residents of the metropolis . Minato City Mayor Seike Ai, Koto City Mayor Okubo Tomoka and Shinagawa City Mayor Morisawa Kyoko participated in the meeting at the Tokyo Big Sight convention complex.
"The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has designated the Minato, Koto, and Shinagawa wards to promote autonomous driving,” the governor said. “Building residents' trust in safety is crucial. We'll connect with people through various channels. We're making autonomous driving common not just in Nishi-Shinjuku (where the TMG buildings are located) but in other areas. We will continue to collaborate to ensure reliable transportation for all residents."
