Signs Hydrogen Agreement with Iwatani
On October 16, Governor Koike attended a signing ceremony for an agreement with Iwatani Corporation, together with the company’s Chairman and CEO Makino Akiji.
The governor said, "I am very pleased that Iwatani Corporation has agreed to offer its hydrogen fuel cell ship Mahoroba free for use at Tokyo Port. With a focus on hydrogen, Tokyo is advancing efforts on decarbonization and a stable energy supply.”
She continued, “We have collaborated with Iwatani Corporation in the past to develop the hydrogen fuel supply environment, including the construction of hydrogen stations. Last month, we launched the TOKYO H2 project, a public-private partnership aimed at boosting the active use of hydrogen.”
Concluding her remarks, the governor stated, “Building on these initiatives, this agreement will allow many people to board the ship and experience hydrogen energy firsthand. By operating a hydrogen fuel cell ship in Tokyo Port, we will steadily advance toward a hydrogen society, starting from Tokyo, a major energy consumer."
