Tokyo-Minerva Univ. Partnership for Future Problem-Solvers
On September 8, 2025, Governor Koike attended the signing ceremony for a comprehensive partnership agreement with Minerva University.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education is advancing the Next Generation Learning Foundation Project to establish a new style of education. The initiative seeks to transform learning by leveraging digital transformation, systems, and teachers and organizations. Its goal is to develop individuals who can adapt flexibly to rapid societal changes and gain the competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly unpredictable era.
Through this partnership, the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education aims to incorporate Minerva University and Minerva Japan's expertise in educational systems and its students' global perspectives.
The governor remarked, "Minerva is the talk of the town, consistently ranked among the world’s most innovative universities. Especially now, as we face rapid changes in climate, demographics, mobility, AI technology, and more.”
She continued, “For Tokyo to maintain its presence as a sustainable and inclusive city, it is essential that the next generation learn to engage globally and develop the ability to address pressing challenges.”
She concluded, “Minerva University’s mission ‘to prepare students to solve the world’s most complex challenges’ deeply resonates with Tokyo’s educational goals. I have high expectations for the outcomes of the exchange programs and collaborative projects with Tokyo Metropolitan high schools and other institutions."
