Governor Meets with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
On Tuesday, October 18, Governor Koike met with Mr. Børge Brende, Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
Speaking to Mr. Brende at the meeting, the governor said, “I would like to tell you how much I respect your always inspiring work. It was also a pleasure working with you when I was minister of the environment. Norway’s various activities targeting climate change now serve as a very good reference for me in the area of global environmental issues. With Japan being an environmentally-minded country, and me now the governor of Tokyo, I hope to continue efforts to ensure that the environment in Tokyo is excellent.”
Minister Brende responded, “I am very glad that we could meet again. We had the opportunity to collaborate when both of us were serving as ministers of the environment. I am extremely pleased that you have become the first woman to lead Tokyo as governor. And, as a result, I am sure that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games are going to be environmentally friendly.”
