Governor Meets PR Caravan for Izu-Oshima Camellia Festival
Governor Koike received a courtesy call on January 14 from the PR caravan for the 71st annual Izu-Oshima Camellia Festival set for February 1 to March on Oshima, one of Tokyo’s 11 islands stretching south from the capital city.
“I understand the festival’s theme is ‘Camellias and Local Landscapes,’” the governor told the visitors. “Oshima boasts excellent access from central Tokyo. It is brimming with diverse charms, including its rich natural environment centered around camellias and cuisine featuring its local specialties.”
She added, “I sincerely hope that Oshima, which is one of Tokyo's treasure islands, will continue to shine and that many people will visit there.”
