Joint Declaration between Paris and Tokyo
On Saturday, August 7, Governor Koike met with Mayor Anne Hidalgo of Paris, which is a friendship city of Tokyo. At the meeting, the Joint Declaration between Paris and Tokyo was issued with the aim to strengthen exchange between the two cities.
The governor said, “We will deepen collaboration between Tokyo and Paris, cities that combine tradition and innovation, in fields such as sports, culture, and traditional crafts, and leverage our respective strengths to promote a sustainable recovery.” “Tokyo and Paris will celebrate the 40th anniversary of friendship city relations next year. As friendship cities and as host cities of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, taking the opportunity presented by the issuance of this joint declaration, I hope to deepen exchange and cooperation between Tokyo and Paris more than ever.”
