Tokyo to Exhibit a Booth at ‘Tourism EXPO Japan 2026’

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau will exhibit a booth at “Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 (https://www.t-expo.jp/en),” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from September 24 to 27, to convey the attractiveness of Tokyo’s history, culture, and tourism—which span from the Edo period to the present day.

 
Based on the concept of the “Edo-Tokyo Entertainment Festival,” the booth will showcase the appeal of Edo and Tokyo tourism and ways to enjoy the city through a variety of exhibits and stage programs. The event is reserved for business meetings by industry professionals and the press on September 24 and 25 and is open to the general public on September 26 and 27.

The stage program will feature Tokyo’s traditional performing arts, including a demonstration of “Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo” (a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property) and an introduction to “Edo Sato-kagura,” a traditional theatrical performance.

Along with the stage performances, there will be hands-on workshops where visitors can experience Edo’s traditional culture, such as “Edo Hand-Drawn Lantern Making,” where participants can experience artisan handwork, and “Incense Making,” where they can enjoy the aroma of nature.

In addition, panels will showcase tourist spots and areas across the 23 wards (in central Tokyo), the Tama area (in western Tokyo), and the islands, highlighting the history and culture from the Edo period to the present, as well as the city’s tourist attractions.

There will also be tastings of local specialties and locally brewed sake from various parts of Tokyo, including traditional Japanese sweets from Asakusa, wine from the Tama area, and confections from Miyakejima Island.
