Islands in the Spotlight: Gov. Koike Backs “Shima-jiman 2025” to Celebrate Tokyo’s Hidden Gems
On May 7, Governor Koike warmly welcomed the event caravan team promoting the Tokyo Island Fair, “Shima-jiman 2025.” The mayor of Ogasawaramura village and leader of the caravan, Mr. Shibuya Masaaki, thanked the governor for her consistent support of promoting island regions. “Through food, products, traditional performing arts and crafts, we will do our best to showcase the unique attractions of each island on May 24 and 25 on the Takeshiba Pier,” Mr. Shibuya said.
In reply, the governor pointed out the colorful outfits that symbolized each island. “While the islands differ in size, they all share the common trait of being rich in extraordinary natural beauty. Furthermore, their outfits reflect the distinct characteristics of each island and beautifully showcase their cultural essence. I’m eagerly anticipating the event that celebrates the pride of your islands, which are rich in nature and culture.”
