From Tokyo to the World: Talents Tokyo 2026 Applications, Launches New ‘Meetup Support Program’ Aimed at Fostering Asian Filmmakers

 
TOKYO, April 30, 2026 – The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in conjunction with the Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) and the Talents Tokyo Organizing Committee, is pleased to announce that the 17th edition of Talents Tokyo will be held during November 23 - 29, 2026.　Applications for the acclaimed development program for filmmakers and producers will be accepted from May 1 to May 31, 2026.

A Hub for Creating and Showcasing New Films from Tokyo

Talents Tokyo serves as a launchpad for aspiring filmmakers and producers from across East and Southeast Asia. The week-long intensive workshop provides participants with invaluable guidance and networking opportunities with leading industry professionals.

Launched in 2010 with the mission of establishing Tokyo as a cinematic hub for Asia, the program has since propelled numerous alumni to international acclaim.

Multi-Faceted Support for the Continued Development of Filmmakers

This year marks the launch of the new “Meetup Support Program,” which will run alongside the existing “Next Masters Support Program,” which provides financial support to alumni throughout the production process. The inaugural Meetup Support Program will sponsor alumni to attend the Locarno and Berlin International Film Festivals, helping them build their international networks.　Additionally, a screening of alumni films is scheduled to be held in Tokyo in early November.
