Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Torch-Lighting Held in Tokyo

On August 18, 2026, Governor Koike attended the Flame-Lighting Ceremony for the Torch Relay of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, held in front of the National Stadium’s Aoyama Gate.

The governor said, “Today, we are holding the flame-lighting ceremony for the upcoming 20th Asian Games. I sincerely hope that the Games in Aichi and Nagoya, along with the events taking place in other regions, will be a great success.” 

She added, “Tokyo will also host swimming and equestrian competitions. I hope everyone enjoys watching and cheering on the outstanding performances of these world-class athletes.” 

The governor expressed her hope that the Asian Games would be a tremendous success, building on the legacy and excitement generated by the Olympic Games, the World Athletics Championships, and the Deaflympics held in Tokyo.
