Governor Attends the Opening Ceremony for Keihinjima Green Hydrogen Plant

On October 23, Governor Koike attended the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Metropolitan Keihinjima Green Hydrogen Plant in Keihinjima, Ota Ward.

Governor Koike said, “This summer’s heat renewed the record as the hottest summer, making us keenly aware of the seriousness of the climate crisis. The prospects of the international situation remain unclear, and the situation surrounding energy, in particular, is in turmoil. We will make full use of technology and ideas to create an urban model that achieves both decarbonization and energy security. Green hydrogen will play a decisive role in realizing this.”

The governor then declared, “The first large-scale green hydrogen production facility in Tokyo will begin operations in Keihinjima, Ota Ward, Tokyo’s manufacturing hub. The hydrogen produced can be used in a wide range of fields, including mobility and as a raw material for cosmetics. We will proceed with preparations for strengthening the facility’s capacity to triple hydrogen production in fiscal 2027.”

She concluded her speech, saying, “Together with all of you, we will accelerate our efforts to realize a sustainable “Tokyo: A Hydrogen Society Proudly Presented to the World.”
