TOKYO FORWARD 2025 Cultural Program TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture are conducting the TOKYO FORWARD 2025 Cultural Program, with three art projects for 2025 when the World Athletics Championships and Deaflympics are held in Tokyo.
One of these projects is TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN, a new performance created by the cast and staff behind the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Opening Ceremony, along with new members, to be presented at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in November 2025 during the Deaflympics.
The motif for the performance is “Train.” This adventure story of a girl in a wheelchair traveling on a mysterious steam locomotive is told through music and words intertwined with physical expression, featuring cast members with rich personalities, and artists expressing themselves in a variety of ways. In consideration of audience accessibility, the show is being designed so that everyone, regardless of disability, can enjoy it together.
A casting call for performers to create this work together was launched in early November 2024. All artists are invited to audition, regardless of whether they have a disability.
At the production announcement held at the Tokyo Parasports Forward 2024 event on September 22, three of the key figures developing the presentation, director and choreographer Kaiji Moriyama, performer Yui Wago, and accessibility director Yoshie Kurisu, took to the stage to share their enthusiasm for the project.
