Governor Meets with the Governor-elect of Jakarta
On Tuesday, July 25, Governor Koike met with Anies Baswedan, the governor-elect of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
In welcoming Governor-elect Baswedan, the governor said, “I am very pleased to see that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Special Capital Region of Jakarta have been actively engaging in exchanges in areas such as sports, tourism and disaster management since we established our friendship city relationship in 1989.”
After stating that he wishes for such friendly relations to continue, Mr. Baswedan told the governor, “Jakarta and Tokyo face common challenges including dense populations. Tokyo has already introduced various measures to solve such problems, which we would like to learn from you.”
