Governor Attends the TOKYO Cleanup Promotion Council Meeting

On July 30, Governor Koike attended the meeting of the TOKYO Cleanup Promotion Council.

The governor said, “Tourism is definitely an important industry for our country, and the number of foreign travelers visiting Tokyo has been increasing, setting new records for three years in a row. While the increase in tourists brings great vitality to the city, it also creates challenges such as how to tackle littering in areas where travelers gather.

“To maintain a clean and attractive Tokyo, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in cooperation with municipalities and a wide range of organizations, including those in the accommodation, transportation, and beverage industries, has launched the ‘TOKYO Cleanup Action,’ a citywide effort to keep Tokyo’s streets clean,” she pointed out.

“To communicate this initiative clearly, we have created the ‘KEEP TOKYO CLEAN’ logo and produced “Keep Tokyo Clean Furoshiki” as an awareness-raising campaign material. I hope this will help make Tokyo even cleaner and ensure that this contributes to the appeal of Japan as a whole,” the governor said.
