Reopening of Tokyo Metropolitan Government South Observation Deck and New Year's Day Opening

 

We are pleased to inform you about the reopening of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building South Observation Deck, which was closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In order to prevent infections, the observation deck will not be opened early for the first sunrise of the year, and will be available only during normal hours. (The details are as follows)

1. Applicable Facility

South Observation Deck, 45th floor,Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 (North Observation Deck remains closed)

2. Date of Reopening

Monday, November 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

3. Opening Hours, etc.

Reopening (From November 8, 2021)

Opening Hours (Last entry 30 minutes before closing)

10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. *Temporarily reduced hours

Tocho Omoide Piano (TMG Piano of Memories)

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Maximum 5 minutes per person

New Year’s Day Opening (From January 1, 2022)

Opening Hours (Last entry 30 minutes before closing)

Live broadcast of first sunrise 6:30 a.m. -7:10 a.m. (*)
General Opening 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
*Instead of opening the observation deck in the early morning for the first sunrise, it will be broadcast live on the internet.

4. Requests to General Public

  • Visitors of Elementary school age and older are required to wear a mask in principle.
  • Please disinfect your hands before entering.
  • If you have a temperature of 37.5°C (99.5°F) or higher, you will not be allowed to enter.
  • If you have cold-like symptoms, such as a severe cough, you may be asked to leave.
  • Please maintain a social distance with other visitors.
  • For your safety and peace of mind, please register for the “Tokyo COVID-19 Monitoring Service”. For more information, please visit the Tokyo COVID-19 Monitoring Service website.

5. Request to Performers and Spectators of the Tocho Omoide Piano

  • Please register for the Tokyo COVID-19 Monitoring Service if you would like to play the piano.
  • Please disinfect your hands with alcohol before and after use.
    *After disinfecting your hands, please allow your fingers to dry completely before touching the piano.
    *The piano itself cannot be disinfected with alcohol.
  • In order to maintain a social distance, please stand as indicated by the markings on the floor when waiting for your turn to play and in the viewing area.
  • Please refrain from announcing the date and time of your performance on social media to attract spectators.

6. Measures to Prevent Spread of COVID-19

In addition to congestion lamps, other infectious disease countermeasures (such as measures to prevent crowding and close proximity, hygiene measures, etc.) will continue unchanged. Please refer to our website and notices in the facility for details.

  • Eating and drinking establishments are temporarily closed. We will announce their reopening on our website, etc.
  • Please note that the opening dates and times are subject to change depending on future circumstances. We will announce any changes as they occur.
