Announcement of Grand Opening Ceremony of Tokyo Aquatics Centre
We are pleased to announce that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will hold a grand opening ceremony of the Tokyo Aquatics Centre on Saturday 24 October 2020. The Tokyo Aquatics Centre is one of the new permanent venues TMG has constructed and will be used as the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. The ceremony had been postponed from last March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Details about the opening ceremonies and media invitations will be provided at a later date.

Tokyo Aquatics Centre (2-1, 2chome, Tatsumi, Koto-ku, Tokyo)

- Greetings from organiser and special guests
- Ribbon-cutting ceremony
- Sports demonstrations by sport federations
- Facility tours etc.
2. Facility Tour for Tokyo residents
1) Date and Time
Saturday 24 October 2020, in the afternoon
2) Location
Tokyo Aquatics Centre (2-1, 2chome, Tatsumi, Koto-ku, Tokyo)
3) Program
- Tokyo residents are invited to the facility tour. Those who wish to participate in the tour will need to apply in advance. The registration starts on Wednesday 7 October on a on a first-come-first-served basis. (Those who live in Koto-ku, where the facility is located, will have priority slots).

3. Other
- Please note that sufficient infection control measures are being taken at the venue based on the TMG’s “Roadmap to Overcoming COVID-19 – to build a society where the ‘new normal’ is firmly established”. We would like to ask all visitors for their cooperation with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure safety.
- In order to manage the temporary overlays for the Tokyo 2020 Games, as well as ensure the safety of users, the venue may have restrictions with respect to the area that may be used and its usage. Please follow the instructions of the facility operator at the venues.
- The public use of venues and events may be suspended in the future depending on the novel coronavirus situation.
