Raising Awareness to KEEP TOKYO CLEAN
On August 22, 2026, Governor Koike took part in a talk session at the opening event for the KEEP TOKYO CLEAN campaign at Omotesando Hills.
The event marked the launch of a year-round public awareness campaign promoting a cleaner Tokyo under the slogan “KEEP TOKYO CLEAN.” Joining the governor for the session were TV personality Inoue Sakura and Ishikawa Naohiro, FC Tokyo Community Generator and a former member of Japan’s national soccer team.
The governor said, “If everyone adopts a mindset of not littering and starts with what they can do, it can also influence the way businesses operate. For example, companies may choose biodegradable packaging materials and make other environmentally conscious changes.”
She continued, “Each individual's power drives this change. The accumulation of small actions will ultimately lead to a cleaner Tokyo, and that message can be shared with the world. It may seem like a small thing, but let’s enjoy the process and work together to KEEP TOKYO CLEAN.”
