Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center Seminar for Foreign Nationals
Governor Koike attended the Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center Seminar for Foreign Nationals held in central Tokyo on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
This seminar, which is conducted for foreign nationals looking to start a business in Tokyo, introduces the attraction of doing business in Tokyo, measures being implemented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) to support foreign nationals establishing a business in the city, and other useful information.
The governor gave a speech in English on working to promote the startup of new businesses in Tokyo to open the seminar. The speech covered topics such as the appeal of Tokyo and various support measures put into place by the TMG to attract foreign companies to the city. The governor encouraged those in attendance to take advantage of the services offered by the Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center in Akasaka and Shibuya Satellite Center, adding that another satellite center would also be established in Marunouchi.
The governor’s speech was followed by presentations given by foreign entrepreneurs, who shared their own experiences, and an international business consultant, Yuji Tsuruno. Those in attendance were also given the opportunity to try out the services provided by the Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center.
About the Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center
The Tokyo One-Stop Business Establishment Center (TOSBEC) centralizes the procedures that foreign companies and start-ups need to complete to establish a business. This is the first such initiative in Japan, which was realized by employing the National Strategic Special Zone system. Through personalized services provided by experts and staff knowledgeable in administrative procedures, the center helps facilitate the prompt completion of various filing procedures required when establish a business and launching operations, including those for certification of articles of incorporation, company registration, taxes, social security, and immigration. On request, the center will also provide support for electronic applications as well as interpretation and translation services in several languages.
