Programs for Tokyo’s New Arts and Cultural Festival Unveiled
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Executive Committee for the Tokyo International Festival of Arts and Culture announced the program lineup for “ARTE TOKYO” on July 2, just 100 days before the new arts and cultural festival scheduled to open on October 10, which will enliven the city this fall and winter.
The core program of ARTE TOKYO—Tokyo International Festival of Arts and Culture—will feature artists and creators from a wide range of fields, including contemporary art, architecture, and media art.
In the three core zones—the Waterfront area, the Hibiya-Marunouchi area, and the Yoyogi-Shibuya area—there will be presentations of numerous creative projects that make the most of each area’s unique characteristics and urban spaces.
In addition, the contemporary circus project “ARTE TOKYO CIRCUS” will take place in the streets of Tokyo. Contemporary circus shows and street performances interacting with the artwork will be staged in each core area.
Furthermore, as a special initiative commemorating both the inaugural ARTE TOKYO festival and the 80th anniversary of the opening of Hama-rikyu Gardens, an art project will be held, utilizing one of Tokyo’s most iconic Japanese gardens at night.
In tandem with these events, cultural and artistic initiatives such as Roppongi Art Night, Art Week Tokyo, and the Tokyo International Film Festival will take place as part of the “Partner Programs” to help enliven the city.
