17 More Tourist Info Desks Named, with Service to Start in Sept.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has designated 17 new locations—including hotels, retail stores, and restaurants—as Tokyo Tourist Information Desks, which provide local travel information to domestic and overseas travelers, with operations set to start gradually from late September.

As part of its efforts to improve the environment for welcoming travelers, the TMG has been designating various locations as tourist information desks in collaboration with municipalities and private-sector business operators in Tokyo. With the latest addition, the number of information desks totaled 517.

Each desk can be searched for on the traveler-oriented website “Tokyo Tourist Information,” with services available in Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Korean.

At each desk, staff provide tourist information in Japanese and English, distribute the official Tokyo tourism guide “Tokyo Travel Guide” (available in 10 languages, including Japanese), and offer information on public transportation, accommodations, and sightseeing (in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean) via tourist information digital signage.
