Event to Create Innovations for Solving Regional Challenges
On April 14, Governor Koike attended the “Event to Create Innovations for Solving Regional Challenges” held at the Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB) in Chiyoda Ward.
To create innovations as a whole nation, TIB, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, promotes initiatives to solve challenges each area faces, by working with other local governments across the country.
This event was also attended by Akita Governor Suzuki Kenta, Yamagata Governor Yoshimura Mieko, and Niigata Governor Hanazumi Hideyo. Local governments, together with startups and small-and-medium enterprises, tried to find possible solutions for regional challenges such as how to deal with this winter’s heavy snowfall, ways to promote sustainable agriculture, and measures to cope with wildlife damage, including one caused by bears.
Governor Koike said, “Today, I heard about various challenges from the governors and representatives from these three prefectures. I hope we can find solutions to these issues by also working with startups of Tokyo and other regions. Let us advance innovations across the country to solve area-specific challenges and revitalize regional economies.”
