TMG Award for the Promotion of Women’s Empowerment
On January 28, Governor Koike attended the presentation ceremony for the “Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Award for the Promotion of Women’s Empowerment for FY2025.”
The governor said, “It is women, who account for half of the population, that will be a driving force to bring about social change. When women shine, it will also lead to men shining. I am convinced that having the potential of men be harnessed fully will push forward our society.
“The Tokyo Metropolitan Government intends to expand the circle of women’s active participation in society throughout Japan under the slogan of ‘WA,’ an acronym derived from ‘Women in Action.’ With the enactment of Japan’s first ordinance to promote women’s empowerment, we will push forward its implementation. We will promote the creation of work environments where women can fully demonstrate their capabilities. To build a Tokyo where women, men, and everyone can shine, we would like to keep going together with you,” she emphasized.
