Governor Koike meets with the President of World Athletics
On Friday, May 7, Governor Koike met with World Athletics President, Mr. Sebastian Coe.
The governor said, “We will not be able to hold the Tokyo 2020 Games or ensure their success without the cooperation of the sports federations and athletes. The Antwerp Games 100 years ago were also held under difficult conditions, and we are determined to hold a successful Tokyo Games by striving to ensure the safety and security of the Games in all aspects.” She added, “We have reached an agreement with the IOC to stage the legacy half marathon in Tokyo in the fall of 2022 and I request the cooperation of the World Athletics as well.”
