Tokyo and Tsinghua University conclude an MoU on comprehensive exchange
On Tuesday, December 17, Governor Koike signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on comprehensive exchange between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tsinghua University at a ceremony held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Main Building No. 1.
This year marked the 40th anniversary of friendship city relations between Tokyo and Beijing. During an official visit to Beijing in August, Governor Koike visited Tsinghua University, and participated in meaningful discussions on exchange in a variety of fields, including education, with Ms. Chen Xu, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee.
To ensure sustainable exchange, an MoU was signed with the aim to promote exchange and cooperation in three areas: scientific and technological innovation, academic research and education, and the exchange and cultivation of human resources.
At the ceremony, Governor Koike said, “Through this MoU, I hope that the world-class education and research capabilities of Tsinghua University, which is producing such outstanding achievements, can be applied to resolve Tokyo’s urban challenges. Taking the opportunity presented by this partnership, I truly hope both parties will continue to grow.”
