Governor Attends the Opening Event for ‘Tokyo Eco Marche’

On August 6, Governor Koike attended the opening event for the “Tokyo Eco Marche” held at BIRTH LAB in Minato Ward.

The governor stated, “Agriculture has long been practiced in various parts of Tokyo. The fact that fresh, safe, and reliable agricultural products are grown right here in this densely populated city and consumed locally results in a smaller carbon footprint in delivery. The benefits of local production for local consumption lie in the freshness of these products. In particular, ‘Tokyo Eco-Agricultural Products’ are grown with reduced use of chemically synthesized pesticides and chemical fertilizers for environmental considerations and are certified by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. I hope many people will have the chance to taste these eco-agricultural products, which Tokyo’s farmers have cultivated with such care. 

She went on to say, “The market has just opened, and I’ve just come from there. The produce looks fresh, delicious, and low-priced. I strongly encourage you to drop by. Please spread the word to your family and friends that a store like this has opened. I hope the appeal of eco-agricultural products reaches even more people.”
