TMG’s Induction Ceremony for New Employees for FY2026

On April 1, Governor Koike attended the “Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Induction Ceremony for New Employees for FY2026,” held at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in Taito Ward.

The governor said, “Amid significant changes in the international order, climate, and technological innovation, it is people who will lead Tokyo toward its growth. Each one of you is a challenger to create the next era. I hope you attend to your duties with the following three mindsets.

“First, always adopt a perspective that ‘the citizens of Tokyo come first.’ I want you to constantly ask yourselves whether you are implementing policies from the citizens’ perspective, and to strive to be a Metropolitan Government employee who truly puts ‘citizens first.’ Second, broaden your vision and ‘take on new challenges.’ If you take a stance of merely maintaining the status quo, you will simply be left behind by the tumultuous change that is taking place at this moment. To turn this turbulence into growth, I want you to fully activate your wisdom and ideas. Third, consider ‘life-work balance’ important. A fulfilling time outside of work will lead to personal growth. I hope you will channel that growth into great work, thus returning the acquired power to benefit the people of Tokyo,” she said.

She added that “Mr. Shibusawa Eiichi once stated that ‘Only after taking on all affairs and interacting with a diverse range of people can various connections arise and self-progress be achieved.’ I sincerely hope that you will use your diverse experiences and connections to bring on your growth and help open a bright future for Tokyo.”
